Mentorship Programs

Bells and Beaus Mentor Program matches our Level II completed students with our Level I younger students, in one-on-one relationships for a period of three months. Through these relationships, as well as recreational's and group activities, mentors provide friendship, support, and guidance to local youth. Mentors and their mentees meet approximately four hours a month during our meetings.

  • Mentors are male and female Young Academic Scholars from diverse backgrounds. Mentors are matched with students of the same gender.
  • Mentees are our Level I students from Bells and Beaus, who will enjoy the benefit from an individual relationship with an older student. The program is designed for students with various needs and backgrounds, so we encourage anyone who is interested to apply. All Mentors will have to fill out an application and submit a letter to why they should be elected to be a Mentor.

The outcome of participation in the program varies. In general, mentors make a big difference in younger people’s lives. Mentors can encourage their mentee’s self-confidence and self-esteem. They can also help them plan for the future and expose them to higher education opportunities. Mentors also benefit from their mentee's. They learn how to be reliable and conscientious of others, and are exposed to other cultures and lifestyles.

Our Mentor Program is designed to encourage the concept of "giving back" to the community, society and the world: in this case, The Bells and Beaus Program. It introduces concepts of stewardship, which works in tandem with the leadership part of the program.
